LISTEN TO YOUR FEELINGS AND ALLOW THEM TO GUIDE YOU

Up until now, we have focused on what you are thinking rather than on what you are doing in your life.

After all, your thoughts and words determine the actions you’ll be willing to take.

You can’t just think yourself to that point.

Here we will start to integrate your mind with your body.

We are going to raise awareness of your body to determine the actual actions that will get you to live your best life.

Beyond thinking, to experience wisdom you have to feel and to know what you are feeling.

We can all recognise feelings like anger, frustration, sadness, elation and love – extreme emotions that are easy to identify.

Yet, the clues to our best lives do not lie in the extremes, but rather in our more subtle feelings, such as sensing the difference between passion and adrenaline or between inspiration and ego.

To recognise subtle feelings, we need to be sensitively attuned.

We must be in a state of calm to fully feel them.

Too often we are just simply too busy, exhausted, overwhelmed, anxious or revved up to find that necessary calm.

We become desensitised to the subtleties of feeling by adrenaline, busyness, distractions, dramas and self-centeredness of chasing what we want. We become numb to our emotions because we get into the habit of avoiding feelings that make us uncomfortable or that demand we take time to deal with them.

Doing as much as we do in our busy worlds, on a daily basis, causes most of us to rev our bodies into overdrive, running on adrenaline in order to have the energy to meet our demands.

Running on adrenaline stresses our bodies.

It’s something we’re equipped to do for only short periods of time.

But we often are in overdrive for longer periods, which eventually wears down our systems.

Too much stress can result in physical or emotional exhaustion, mood swings, insomnia, even illness and disease.

Our work with this chapter is to get you off the ‘busy’ treadmill of your life by getting you in touch with what you really feel and want on a visceral level.

I will guide you to learn to admit your feelings, to feed them deeply and to be so sensitive to them that you are never so busy in your daily life to ignore them.

Once you recognise your feelings, you begin to trust them to guide you to actions that can affect your life positively and immediately.

When you discover your reasons for doing anything decisions become very simple. Nothing is considered work, you’ll see there is only one way to heal, repair, regenerate, evolve, adapt + live… 

It’s to connect back to the core of what it means to be human.
