IT WILL OCCUR NATURALLY
Often I have heard people – especially women – say that others are always coming to them with their problems.
Many people describe this as a draining part of their lives, and wonder why it would be so negative if it were truly their purpose.
Having others rely on you for constant help can sap a vital energy you need to keep focused on yourself.
A true lucrative purpose is vitalising, not draining.
In this case, if it energises you to help other people, great.
However, if the way you are constantly giving to others is not energising, you may need to put some limits on who you help and how you can help them.
Another stumbling block when people search for their lucrative purpose is that they often feel it must be a grand purpose in the world’s eyes.
A woman at a recent talk I gave said, “I want to be Mother Teresa or somebody”. I so appreciated her honesty in expressing her feeling that if her calling or purpose were not grand or holy, it wasn’t ‘right’ or good enough, and, therefore, would not be fulfilling.
I know so many people who want to do or be something huge to benefit humankind and then suffer a lack of personal fulfilment because they can’t even take one small step towards this enormous goal.
“Remember,” I told this woman, “Mother Teresa did not become Mother Teresa by anointing masses all at once. She started with one sick man, whom she took home when no hospital would have him. She became a symbol of selfless caring by ministering to one person at a time. You don’t have to save the world, just be your own version of Mother Teresa, every day, to everyone you encounter. Start with yourself, and then your dog, and see where that takes you.”
We all need to listen and act on such advice, myself included.
The evolution of lucrative purpose may land you somewhere grand, it is however not about the grand goals, it is about simply living daily with your lucrative purpose in mind that will lead you in the end to fulfilment.
If following your lucrative purpose leads you to something huge, this will occur naturally – you won’t have to force it.
It will be the result of your true achievement: discovering your lucrative purpose.
