LYBL PHILOSOPHY – MAKE HEARTFELT CONNECTIONS

“I define connection as the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.” ― Brené Brown

Who wants more connection like that?

There is so much joy in authentic connection. There’s even joy in the little connections like, smiling to a stranger in the street or an act of kindness just because, but the fulfilment of a deep connection that is honest and real, that honours who YOU are is something we crave as humans.

Our LYBL creator, Michele Jones even says that there is no point even having an interaction unless it is heartfelt, for she believes that deep meaningful connections are where it’s at in life, she would even go as far to say that if your interactions are not heartfelt or filled with this type of connection or energy, then don’t even bother having them.

These types of connections are made all the more beautiful when you’re showing up with that same heartfelt connection to yourself – to your SPIRIT – the true essence of your SOUL!

As one of our beloved teachers Ram Dass says:

We’re all just walking each other home.”

So how do your personal relationships fit in to the wheel of life?

Why are these deep connections and relationships so important?

It all comes back to LOVE, self love, and coming from a place of love when connecting with others.

Love is the universal language of life.

Quite often without words…it is a place of mutual understanding simply by looking into another persons eyes & seeing them for who they truly are.

Through this segment, we take a look at the Relationships in your life, with yourself, your partner and your friends and family where you will find our best tools and guidance towards nurturing your relationships.

“Remember that the relationship you have with yourself sets the relationship tone for all other relationships in your life. So LOVE YOURSELF, FULLY, DEEPLY HONESTLY and UNCONDITIONALLY!”

Hey Best Lifer,

As you may have seen this month we highlight our relationships segment of our wheel of life.

We chose December as relationships month as it tends to be the time of year we’re coming together with our loved ones and embracing all of the festivities.

But we also know this month can be tough for many many people, with additional stressors, deadlines, finances and sometimes even grief can rear its head as we head into festive season.

Dysfunctionality within family units, within ourselves & with others at any level seems to be heightened and stares at us glaringly in the front and centre as we countdown to what for many is not a happy time.

And when there is additional stress, our minds can feel so chaotic that we can often find it hard to truly enjoy and just be in the moment with our loved ones, which then ends up not serving anybody in the process.

So we want to share our best tips on nurturing your relationships this month and also so that you can nurture the relationship within yourself and fill your cup so much that you can show up as your best self and leave not only your cup full, but you’re loved ones too.

  • Create Space for Clarity: Begin by listing everything that feels important to you for the season. Let this clarity guide your steps, shaping an action plan that aligns with your heart and helps you honour your commitments with ease.
  • Give With Intention: Craft a gift planner, not just as a checklist but as a reflection of the love and care you wish to share. Focus on thoughtful gestures rather than the material, bringing joy to giving rather than stress.
  • Be Fully Present: During gatherings, let your presence be the most treasured gift you bring. Put away distractions, listen deeply, and connect wholeheartedly with those around you.
  • Pause to Recentre: When the pace feels overwhelming, gift yourself small moments to breathe, reflect, and return to the present. Let these breaks be reminders to ground yourself in gratitude and peace.
  • Practice Daily Gratitude: Let your gratitude flow beyond journaling—speak it, share it, and let it soften the edges of any chaos. Gratitude shifts your perspective, filling your heart and radiating outward.
  • Nurture Your Well-being: Care for yourself holistically—drink water to refresh your spirit, rest deeply to restore your energy, eat nourishing foods to sustain your strength, and move your body to feel alive. Then consciously choose the foods you eat for pure joy!
  • Choose Compassion: Forgive yourself and others for the imperfect moments. This season isn’t about perfection; it’s about the love and grace we extend, even when things don’t go as planned.
  • Honour Your Values: Release the weight of expectations that don’t serve you. Create a season that feels aligned with your values and allows you to celebrate in a way that feels true to your heart.

And most importantly – remember to give yourself a whole lot of self love this month!

While nurturing our closest relationships is important, we think it’s just as if not more important to continue to nurture the relationship with yourself.

As the old saying goes, ‘You can’t pour from an empty cup’.

December has just started, so bring some conscious thought and action to the forefront now.

Take a breath and slide with grace and ease as to how you would like it to be.

Big love
MJ
