I love this statement by Jim Carrey & this reflection from Collective Evolution of which I have intertwined some of my own beliefs.
“How will you serve the world? What do they need that your talent can provide? That’s all you have to figure out. . . . That piece that we’re after, lies somewhere beyond personality, beyond the perception of others … even beyond effort itself. You can join the game, fight the wars, play with form all you want, but to find real peace you have to let the armour go. Your need for acceptance can make you invisible in this world.” – Jim Carrey
Ask yourself, why do we all get the greatest feeling when we do something nice for another human being, or any living being for that matter?
There is something within us all, something within our consciousness, within our very biology, that is built for helping others in need. Clearly, Jim Carrey is on this path, as he is already asking himself how he can serve the world.
And many others are doing the same.
At the other end of the spectrum, there are those playing the complete opposite role, but even the most troubled people can have their heart opened by doing something good for somebody else.
When I was growing up, I wanted to change the world, and I realised that simply going through the educational system and then looking for any old job was not going to cut it for me. I started to ask myself what I could do to help people, which is why I went into coaching and eventually found my way to where I am now.
I wanted to have and make an impact in some way, shape, or form.
So many of us want to have a positive impact on the world, but we don’t know how or where to begin.
Personally, I wanted to make a big impact, empowering one person wherever I can is what provides me with the most fulfilment, and this seems to be a common trait that all human beings share.
We spend our entire lives going to school, going to work, and providing for ourselves, to the point where we have neglected our hearts and what really makes them sing.
Along the way, we are told how the world is, how it works, what to do, how to be, and what is ‘normal.’
This has put many people in the position of being concerned with what others think of them. We develop a need for acceptance and constant affirmation. As a result of this need, in combination with the realities of the daily grind, we neglect to nourish our souls, which is why so many of us feel down, and depressed.
It is why we continue, unconsciously, to harm our bodies with toxic substances (smoking, drugs, alcohol), or even abusive or unfulfilling relationships, not even realising why we engage in the same old habits.
I believe it’s because we are hurting, it’s because we are not taught to follow our passions and take risks, it’s because we are told the world is a certain way and we have to play by those rules. I believe it’s because our souls (as a collective) are not resonating with the current human experience that we’ve created for ourselves.
I’m here to tell you that you don’t have to be afraid. If you want to create some sort of change and have an impact on people, and your heart won’t take no for an answer, then you will probably embark on a very interesting journey.
We cannot continue to bask in our comfort zones.
Life is short, so don’t be afraid to break free of the mould and take risks.
Don’t always concern yourself with the end goal; follow your heart and enjoy the journey, because there is always a step you can take, no matter how small you perceive it to be.
Your journey truly does start with the first step….what does that look like for you?Tags: #BeingofService #LiveYourBestLife #LYBL #LYBLcampfire #Makingadifference #PersonalDevelopment #Serve #Service
