Live Your Best Life: Career & Business
Finding your lucrative purpose
When charting a course for our futures, we often resort to figuring out what we can do next by following the example of what we have done in the past.
We’ll look at our resumes, training, degrees, qualifications or experience and determine what work would match our profile. The past is a good place for career inspiration, but I believe you’re looking at the wrong part of the past.
Don’t look at what you’ve done; look at what and who you’ve been.
- What have employers and co-workers come to rely on you for?
- What have the people in your life naturally come to you for?
- How have the people in your life utilised you? Who have you been for them?
- Have people come to you because they needed a listener, or needed to solve a problem?
- Have people come to you to inspire creative ideas or model successful risktaking?
Back when I worked in hospitality, my co-workers included aspiring talent of all kinds: actors, singers, clothing designers, would-be restauranteurs, electricians, students, musicians and so on.
What we had in common was that we were all stopping here only temporarily, as we aimed for other things.
Invariably, at some time or another, every one of my colleagues sat me down and asked me to help as each orchestrated plans to achieved desired goals or a way of life. Even back then, I was always helping others see the forest instead of the trees.
I always wondered, “Why me?” Why do people ask me to help when they are trying to reach a goal or to understand themselves more deeply?
It’s only in hindsight that I understand that I was the guide for these people, someone who ushered them toward their desires, with an ability for them to reveal their inner truths.
Even further back in my life, I had been in a support group for students at University and would find myself doing the same thing for them.
This also carried over to the oncology ward when I was living my life with cancer. To all these people, I was not so much a ‘fellow bar manager’, ‘aspiring coach’, or even ‘enforcer of fun, support and guidance in the oncology department’, they saw me as a guide to their goals and dreams.
My natural path – my lucrative purpose – was being laid even then.
Marlo Morgan’s ‘Mutant Message Down Under” describes an Aboriginal tribe in the outback of Australia whose members are named not by a given name and surname as Westerners traditionally use.
Instead, people are designated by the function they serve in the tribe: memory keeper, peacemaker, cook, medicine man, kin to birds, female healer, and the elder.
Each person’s role was who he or she was.
A name changed only when the people developed a new role, and when that new purpose for that person emerged, the individual celebrated a birthday and we all honoured and valued ourselves in this way, ours would be a very different world.
I love this concept.
Imagine a world where people spent more time on who they were being rather than what they were doing.
I believe we’d all get to where we aspire to be sooner if so…

Hey Best Lifer!
September is ALREADY almost past…it’s like I blinked and almost missed it!
(Hence the lateness of our newsletter this month!)
Here at LYBL HQ we’ve been focused on Career and Business month in so many delicious ways.
What we’ve come to learn over the years, is that revealing your purpose & then truly embracing and living it can be hard.
You keep trying to manifest the things you want…
… and nothing.
Then feelings of being lost.. or lacking direction in or on your life’s journey tend to kick in.
When I started learning tactics and strategies sold to me towards a greater life’s purpose I definitely stumbled across my own fair share of mistakes or roadblocks.
At times, they felt unnatural, unfamiliar and clunky…out of alignment.
It was like no matter what I did, I felt somewhat stuck on the hamster wheel of working really hard towards a greater life for myself but not truly cracking the code to my own best life.
Have you been there?
I truly believe with every ounce of my being that my journey was meant for me, I had to go through struggle & hardship in order to uncover the blueprint to my best life & so that I could reveal my own system for living and the LYBL philosophies that came through that process to then be able to help others do the same for themselves.
Finally, I figured out an easier way. A way to harmony in all areas of the wheel of life, a life of balance, prosperity, happiness and joy, even when life appears to be serving up and dishing up the lemons!
These teachings set the precedent for my life. Helped me to uncover my limiting beliefs & what was holding me back, helped me rid the fear I had within and guided me towards my life’s purpose – all while manifesting things I never would have thought was possible for myself.
I now lead a life I am proud of, a life full of abundance in all areas, a life that I created for myself and I know its not only possible for you too, but it was what you were born for.
And that leads me to here, now, sending this email to you to help you do the same for yourself.
Because that’s what I want for you, too. This is my souls mission & purpose for my days here on this earth.
You weren’t born to work the pre-conceived idea of the ‘system’ and never have anything left for yourself, especially in the seemingly unconscious world of the 9-5 grind that some of us have grown to accept as normal.
You weren’t born to live a life small and not listening to the beat of your own drum.
You weren’t born to struggle, even though we all know life is hard (that’s part of the fun to our own Awakening) and you definitely do not have to settle for less than you deserve.
What would it feel like to have what you have always wanted?
To live a life you always dreamed of?
To have a career that doesn’t make it feel like “work”?And even though most of us have to ‘work’ you won’t feel like it is, even when you are being challenged, your energy will resound in leaps and bounds.
To have more balance in your life that allows time for fun, family, friends or anything else you would love to do but at the moment can’t seem to find the time to simply cant fit into your tight schedule or your seemingly boring and beige life.
Here at LYBL – we exist to set you on that path.

On Thursday 12th September 2024, we supported R U OK? Day.
R U OK? to remind everyone to stay connected and make asking, ‘are you OK?’ a part of our everyday.
That way if someone we know is struggling with something big or small they’ll know we care.
When we genuinely ask, ‘are you OK?’ and are prepared to talk to them about how they’re feeling and what’s going on in their life we can help someone who might be struggling feel connected and supported, long before they’re in crisis.
You don’t need to be an expert to ask someone, ‘are you OK?’. Try and make time for regular chats about life’s ups and downs so you can build trust. That way when someone is struggling they’ll know you care and will feel comfortable opening up to you
It also helps to choose the right time and place for a meaningful conversation.
• On breaks from work or study
• When exercising together
• When connecting or doing activities together online
• When you’re spending time together socially
• When you’re doing an activity side-by-side
• When you’re sharing a meal
• When you’re travelling together, even a short trip can be a good time to talk.
We’ll be sharing information and resources to help you ask, ‘are you OK?’ and meaningfully connect with the people in your world. These can be found on our socials.
Ask R U OK? because a conversation could change a life.
If you need immediate crisis or emotional support you can contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 or
R U OK? is a national charity dedicated to inspiring all of us to have regular, meaningful conversations to support anyone going through a difficult time. You can learn more at ruok.org.au
